Hard-Polymer Clad Fiber (H-PCF) Patch Assemblies
Hard-Polymer Clad Fibers (H-PCF) are a type of step-index silica fibers where the core is surrounded by a thin, hard-polymer cladding.
H-PCF fibers are preferred for their mechanical strength, flexibility, suitability for use in challenging chemical, environmental and high-temperature environments, and for their low cost and ease of handling.
Furthermore: The index of refraction of hard-polymer material is lower than what’s achievable with doped silica, resulting in fibers with higher numerical apertures (NA=0.37 typ).
H-PCF fibers find use in medical devices, in military, industrial and scientific applications, and for factory floor data communications.
Berkshire Photonics has years of experience as a maker of H-PCF patch cables and assemblies. We stock a variety of jumpers in standard configurations and lengths as shown below.
Most patch assemblies we make, however, are to customer specifications. We use high-quality fiber, connectors, protective sheathing options, etc., and we follow well-documented, continuously-monitored production processes so that every assembly we deliver meets the highest standards of reliability and dependability.
Contact us today and tell us about the custom cable assemblies you need. We’ll work with you to quickly zero in on an optimized solution.
Notes:
1) Fibers protected with Ø3.0mm furcation tubing (orange PVC; T= 0-85ºC).
2) Both ends terminated with stainless steel SMA connectors with bend-protection boots.
