Hard-Polymer Clad Fiber (H-PCF) Patch Assemblies

Hard-Polymer Clad Fibers (H-PCF) feature a step-index silica glass core surrounded by a thin, hard-polymer coating that acts as the cladding to contain and guide the light in the core.

H-PCF fibers are preferred for their mechanical strength, flexibility, suitability for use in challenging chemical, environmental and elevated-temperature environments, and their low cost and ease of handling.

Additionally, the lower index of refraction of hard polymer allows for realization of higher numerical apertures (0.37 typ).

H-PCF fibers find broad application in medical devices, military, industrial and scientific applications, and for factory floor data communications.
