The SMA 905 was one of the first fiber optic connector types to gain broad industry acceptance, and continues to be popular due to its simple, rugged, and low-cost design. SMA stainless steel ferrules can be readily drilled to accommodate fibers of any diameter (up to 2000µm or more), and a wide variety of boot, dust cap and customization options are available.
