Polarization Maintaining (PM) Fiber

Polarization-maintaining (PM) fibers are engineered to maintain the polarization state of light as it travels the length of the fiber. This is accomplished by the introduction of stress-inducing elements in the cladding that induce birefringence in the fiber core. PM fibers are used in a range of applications, including spectroscopy, delay lines, sensing systems, modulators, biomedical devices, fiber optic gyroscope, laser pigtails, and interferometric sensors.

Berkshire Photonics stocks “Panda” style polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber for 980, 1300 and 1550nm wavelengths, with types for other wavelengths available on request.
